Description

This Giant Chimenea was inspired by the 42Fab design. We thought it was so great we wanted to make them available to everyone! We also introduced a second variation to the design to give you two distinct options:

1. The standard chimenea with fire box and wood storage box.
2. The aptly named firebox-only edition with only a single, slightly lower, fire box.

Both options are the same price, so feel free to choose the one that best meets your needs. Additionally, we offer these units in sizes ranging up to 10 feet, so whether you need one for a home or a resort we’ve got you covered!

Sizes and Scale

First of all, even our 7 foot tall chimenea is quite tall! It’s big enough to be the centerpiece of an area. But for those who are looking for something even larger, we can certainly push the limits on the size even more. For example, here’s the 10′ tall version with Austin standing beside it for reference. He’s over 6′ tall, so it really puts things into perspective.

The dimensions for the various sizes of chimeneas are:

• 7 foot: Base – 24″ square, tapering up to 12″ square opening at top.
• 8 foot: Base – 28″ square, tapering up to 14″ square opening at top.
• 9 foot: Base – 30″ square, tapering up to 15″ square opening at top.
• 10 foot: Base – 36″ square, tapering up to 18″ square opening at top.

Fabrication and Assembly

These fire pits are CNC cut from heavy 10 gauge steel plate. They come off the robot in several pieces which then have to be hand assembled.

Each piece needs to be laid out and clamped securely to a fixture welding table to ensure perfect alignment and flatness. If the parts aren’t kept flat and square, the whole unit can end up wobbling once it’s standing.

Finally, once the parts are completely welded they need to be artistically ground smooth to hide all of the seams.

These chimeneas are built to last a lifetime, and will naturally rust to a beautiful patina over time.

Additional Features

One of the great things about these chimeneas is that the design funnels all of the smoke upwards. Since the walls slope inwards, the rising heat accelerates to push the smoke overhead. At the same time, in order to keep the area safe and the fire where it belongs, we include a custom Spark Arrestor built into every unit.

The spark arrestor is comprised of three parts:

• A base panel which is welded into the chimenea, with a hole in the center for a RivNut or Weld Nut. (Not provided.)
• A fine stainless steel mesh designed to capture embers. (You’ll need to get this of Amazon…)
• A top panel to hold the mesh in place.

This system allows for future replacement of the mesh to ensure longevity.

In addition to protecting the environment around the chimenea, we also designed these units to protect themselves by draining water when they are exposed to the elements. The fire shelf, and bottom panels fit tightly on two edges, while leaving a small gap on the other two edges to allow water to drain. Stitch welds work great! If you fully weld it you’ll have to drill holes, plus the heat will likely warp the entire unit.

Of course, all of these features are hidden inside these fire pits in order to ensure they make for a truly magnificent sight!

Our artfully crafted chimeneas make a stunning statement, and they’re fabricated to last a lifetime! Each design is hand fabricated when ordered, and offered in sizes ranging from the very tall 7 foot edition to the monster 10 foot versions.
